Your website is the foundation of your internet marketing efforts, a place that promotes your business 24/7 even when you’re not open. Somewhere potential customers can find out more about your products and services as well as opening times and answer any questions they may have.

Creating or claiming your Google my business listing will help you business get found across all Googles platforms. And with the right strategy it will also show up in the Google 3 pack (see image for example) at the top of the organic Search. Google has 92% of the search engine market share worldwide and also 92% in the UK. Given these statistics you can see why claiming your GMB listing is second on the list.

A business website and GMB listing is the minimum beginning internet marketing foundations.

With a Local business with an address then building citations to you business it crucial. When building your citations it’s important that your Name, Address and Phone number (NAP) is identical on all the websites.

Building you social profiles and securing you business name is our next step. The main Social profile for a local business is Facebook as potential customers can find you locally but you can see if you business name is available with this great tool.

There are to steps to reviews on the internet. The first is getting your customers to leave reviews and the second is managing and responding to those reviews.

There are many different reviews site on the internet so it’s important to find those one’s where you will find your potential customers as well as those that will help improve your online presence. Google is on of the best places to gain more reviews as it directly supports your GMB and SEO efforts, your Facebook page is another great place to get your customers to review your business.

Search engine optimisation is one of the best ways to get more customers as it is one of the most trusted sources from a customer point of view. How ever getting you business ranked in the organic search results is probably the most challenging step on this list. Google doesn’t provide a ‘how to’ guide to getting you website ranked and there are as many as 200 ranking factors to consider. Although it can be difficult SEO is definitely something you should take the time to understand and make an effort to either do it your self or pay for an expert to help you.

7. Paid Ads

Somewhat like SEO paid ads are only affective if done the correct way. Many local businesses spend thousands on Facebook and Google ads and are either spending too much per lead or getting the wrong type of leads. Targeting specific consumer and re-targeting your ads based on people that are interested in your services is a great way to spend your ad budget to get maximum results for you efforts.

The final piece of the puzzle to get those potential customers that have visited your website but not yet made the purchase. Make sure you don’t miss those that slipped through the net first time.
